SPRAT rope access training & certification

Overview
Society for Professional Rope Access Technicians, SPRAT are recognized by many of the rope access companies and industrial companies in North and South America, Europe and Asia as the certificate for rope access. Making it an absolute must for those who want a career in the rope access industry.

The SPRAT Level 1 certificate is the first step in a three level rope access structure. As a qualified Level 1, the candidates will always be under the supervision of a Level 3 when working with a rope access company.

The SPRAT Level 2 certificate is the next step in the SPRAT certification process. The course builds on the Level 1 and the candidates experience. Certification will be taken after a week of intensive training, both practical as theoretical and with their job required equipment.

The SPRAT Level 3 certificate is the highest step in the SPRAT certification process. The Level 3 builds on the candidates experience and prepares him to take on the role of team leader, safety supervisor, rescue standby and rigger. Thus so far rope access industry has an impeccable safety record, this is largely due to the quality of Level 3's in the field.

Rope access training

Aims
To train personnel to a rope access level which will maintain and enhance current levels of professionalism, competence and safety existent within the rope access industry. Also to promote rope access as an integral part of the modern multi-disciplined workforce.

Content
Various content with each level such as:
• Current work at height legislation
• Principles and equipment of rope access
• Anchoring systems
• Descend and ascend techniques
• Rope transfers, passing knots, deviation and re-belays
• Simple to advanced rescue techniques
• Evaluation

Who should attend?
Personnel requiring the ability to access difficult and exposed work sites as part of a rope access work team, in order to perform a wide range of standard trade skills in a safe and efficient manner at different levels It should be noted that a certain degree of physical fitness and a head for heights are important.

Structure
The course is highly practical and physical in nature. With the majority of time being spent on rope, preparing for assessment. There is also a theory element, delivering the necessary knowledge of standards and equipment important for general day to day safety.

Details
The course is of a five-day duration, including assessment. This course is given at the Oakville Fire Service Training Campus or at our location in Fergus but can also be delivered at the clients premises.
